About Me
I embrace a diverse cultural background, blending the rich traditions of Japan and Ireland in my heritage. This fusion deeply influences my artistic sensibilities, with a strong emphasis on aesthetics and the poetic narrative. My journey as a photographer commenced during my high school years, where I honed my skills through the timeless medium of black and white film. This formative experience instilled in me a meticulous approach, as film demands precision and forethought for each shot. I learned digital when I got a job at a camera store, learning the gear to a degree where I could sell it. I edited hundreds of thousands of photos in that lab, training my eye to see where the flaws were. Next I became a second-shooter for a high end wedding photography group, where I trained under several different pros. In college, I was able to take 400 level studio lighting classes, skipping all the prerequisite courses because of my portfolio. After college, I starting shooting weddings on my own, and helping small local businesses with website photography. I also got a job at Apple, during the Steve Job years, which helped me understand branding, customer service, and technology.
